March and April 2014

Updating this blog has gotten pushed down on the TO DO list because of all the new assessments we must do this year.  I will keep my opinion to myself about that.  I will say I am disappointed it has taken some of my time away from the "fun" stuff in first grade, which includes blogging.

March came in like a lion and left like a lion this year, but that didn't stop us from enjoying cool things here at school.  We had green eggs and ham in celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday.  YUM!!!!

The kids ate like champs!

Later in the month we had an assembly about the history of Hip Hop dance which the children loved.  We loved it so much that we incorporated the event into our writing the next day.  We wrote about our opinions of the show with reasons and evidence.  I love when unexpected lessons just slide into the week.  They usually make for the best learning.

Some of our class got to go up on stage to "break it down".

And some of the first grade teachers too.  But not this chicken!

April has been filled with reviewing math skills for our SGO test and getting our reading scores recorded.  Don't worry, we are having some fun too.
Happy Easter!
