I won an award....are you kidding me?

Thank you so much to Michele Smyth over at New Adventures In First Grade for the blog award.  Wow, I feel like Sally Fields at the Oscars...."They love me...they really love me!"  Ok so my "they" is only sweet Michele, but she really made me happy!

Now I have to do the following things to comply with this award:

1. Link back to the blogger who gave it to you. (see above)
2. Pass the award on to 10 other lovely bloggers. (Oh no!)
3. Follow the person who sent it to you. (I do.)

#1 and #3 are a no brainer....but #2...well... I don't want to pick blogs that already have the award because then they would have to find 10 more blogs to highlight and so and so and so on.  I'll try to research my blog "arsenal" and see who might secretly want this recognition just like I did.  Here goes.

I "heart" these 10 blogs I recently found:

Ummm, yes, I know how to count....but you see I can't find 10 blogs I follow that have not recieved this award yet, so check out these 5....and that's all (my Junie B. line).

Oh, and I guess I should learn how to grab all your "buttons" instead of the boring way I posted your blogs....sorry!  I'll look for a tutorial.

25 Followers....Wow!

Wow... I have 25 followers now.  I always read about these amazing teachers being happy about reaching a "followers goal", but I never had one.  Something about the number 25 just clicked in my head and made me think...wow.....my firsties are getting some recognition out there in blogland.  They deserve it that's for sure.  Thanks for following me, friends!

I'll try to be more interesting and start posting items I can share with my teacher followers.  I have gotten so consumed with the take, take, take from you all that I am not doing any giving.  I can't promise it will happen tomorrow, but the intention is there.

For my parent followers, I hope you enjoy seeing your little beauties having a blast in first grade.  Don't forget you can post comments at the end of my posts and I can show them to the kids at school.

Now off to bed to sleep this cold away!  Bring on the spring weather so I can get those windows open and air out the germ infested classroom.  Magic Eraser and Clorox Wipes can only do so much!   AAAAchoooooo!

More February Fun!

What a busy month!  February is now busier than December around here.  We have had so much fun while learning this month (not that we don't always have fun...you know me!).  After the 101st day of school, we moved right into Valentine fun with activities from Reagan Tunstall's unit from TPT.  Here we are measuring things around our classroom with nonstandard units (hearts, of course).  We even measured each other.

Here we are playing, exploring with our place value blocks before we started our lesson.  If we don't get time to play, explore with them first the lesson won't go quite as well, you know!

The kids got the tens and ones concept right away!  Yeah! We went on to play lots of fun learning games from Cara Carroll's unit about place value.
Hope all my blog friends check it out.  It's a great unit on TPT.

And now, we are ending February and beginning March with a week full of Seuss celebrations.  Check them out.....

We  watched Justin Bieber read The Cat in the Hat on Youtube and decided if we would want The Cat to come to our house or not.  Got this from First Grade Fever's blog.  If you (blog friends) didn't get it,  you should for next year.  Love it!

We read Horton Hatches the Egg.  Then, we decided what kind of animal we wanted to create like the "Elephantbird" in the book.  The kids had great ideas for combining two animals into a new one.  We made a list of our ides and got to work creating that new animal.  I love them all, but the "pish" (pig fish) really cracks me up for some reason! Maybe because I like all things chubby!

Check out Wacky Wednesday.

Believe it or not during all this fun, we actually had time to continue our weather unit too!

Tomorrow is Green Eggs and Ham day. Come back to see that fun!
