Headhunter and Readers

I have not posted since the 50th day and it is now day 87.  YIKES! January is the time of year when our Firsties become busy little readers.  It's the time of year I not because of SNOW, but because I see the love of reading in my students. They are always asking to read, read, read.  Here is a picture where three friends wanted to read the same book together in a little group without me asking them to do it.

And all the other Firsties are choosing to read as well.

January also brings a time of learning harder words.  In both spelling and sight words we have been learning some tricky rules.  Here we are playing Headhunters where we have to read the sight word that is stuck to our friend's head.  We are not supposed to tell them the word, just read it and write it down silently on our recording sheet.  At the end of the game we should be able to tell what word is on our own head.  FUN!!
